Week #19 - Final Stretch

One week before the end and our big race is still the ladies race. After this Tuesday's weigh-in, Stacey is just a bit ahead of Lisa. Stacey is on vacation this weekend, which for many might be quite a temptation, but for Stacey it might turn into an advantage if she ends up working out with her sister for a few days! Team White is pulling away, thanks to John Farrar coming through this week. He must be concentrating on those carrots instead of cupcakes!

Cycle #2 will begin on 6/1/10. Many people will be continuing on and some that have met their goal are going to participate in "maintenance" mode. Please let me know if you or anyone would like to enter. We have some new players and I'm very excited to see their progress and everyone's continued progress.

Can't wait for Tuesday! Many have asked if we are doing any sort of presentation. I had planned to do it informally at lunchtime right after the weigh-in is complete so everyone (most everyone) can be there to see the results. Many of us bring lunch and eat together and anyone is welcome to bring something to share on Tuesday.

Week #18 - John Hess is the man!

Two weeks left and John Hess is killing it! He looks great and continues to impress me and everyone! The big races are the woman's individual and the team. Lisa and Stacey are neck and neck with Lisa in a slight lead. For the team, While, Yellow, and Purple are all within 0.4%. I'm convinced that Team White will hold on and can extend their lead, especially if John Farrar decides to replace every cupcake that tempts him with a carrot;-)

426.8 pounds lost so far - awesome job everyone!!! We have $151.30 to roll over into Cycle #2. Just let me know if you (or anyone else you know) want to continue on after the competition ends on 5/25/10. You can enter in "Maintenance" mode, or "Competition" mode. Week #17 - Home Stretch

Still a lot of good weight loss going on so close to the end of the competition! The biggest issue of the week is the end date of the competition. Last week, I had asked for feedback on the end date. After reviewing the rules, it is clear that the end date is to coincide with the finale, so I wanted everyone to understand that May 25th will be the official end date. I know some are disappointed...I considered going to lunch with Neal Kipnis to get a free read by County Counsel, but it is clear in the rules.

This week Matt was on jury duty, Angie was on vacation, Ben was sick, and Kevin Joyce and Jeff did not weigh in. There isn't really any change in the standings this week (just a switch in the team standings between Purple and Yellow). Overall, we have lost 411.7 lbs as a group and 16.7 pounds on the week! Week #16 - Anne is gone again, again!

Ok, I am really sorry that I could not be there again...I can tell the story at our weigh-in this Tuesday, if you haven't heard it already. The good news is I can't wait for Tuesday! I missed all of you and seeing your progress!

Thanks AGAIN to Sarah for helping out! This week Jim Jeff, and Kevin Rhodes did not weigh-in. We have our first to 20% - congrats to John Hess! And a shake up with the team competition! Team White is now in the lead and Team Purple is in second - Team Yellow has been in first place for weeks on end and were bumped out of first last week by Team White, now two teams are ahead of them (only barely...). Michael Ray did assure me they were going to be the team on top at the end, so we will see!

I looked it up on the internet and the finale is going to be on May 25th. Our official rules say the last week is May 11th. I think it would be cool to coincide with the finale for our ending, so I wanted to see what everyone thought of that. Let me know if anyone has strong feelings on this.

Week #14 - steady progress

We have made it to week #14 - seems like just yesterday that we started up WMBL. Sorry I was not able to be there for the weigh-in, but thanks to Sarah for taking care of that for me! FYI, i am on vacation this week, so Sarah will be weighing you in again.

This week, Kevin Rhodes, Joe Contaoi, and Mike Harrison were gone. All data for them is from their most recent weigh-in. Our four top contenders moved around a bit, like they usually do, with the following order at the close of week #14: John, Lisa, Stacey, then Randy. For the teams, Yellow is still on top with Gold, Purple, and White all about 0.5% behind. We lost 25.6 pounds this week, for a total of 380.3 since we started.

Congrats to Angela and Deanna on running the Carlsbad 5k on the Saturday before this week's weigh-in! Angela beat her time from last year by over a minute and came in just a few seconds faster than Stacey ran her race last week. This was Deanna's very first race and she finished a few minutes after Angela and looked strong at the end - you'd never know she broke her foot almost a year ago! Here are the stats!

Week #13 - Easter is worse than the Superbowl?

Is it true? Can Easter be worse than the Superbowl? It was pretty close...Overall, 8 of 24 contestants gained weight, but we achieved a net loss on the week of 14.5 lbs. This was helped a great deal by John Hess, who hasn't weighed in for a few weeks and lost 8.5 lbs since his last weigh-in. This is the first week that everyone has weighed in for a long time, so the stats are up to date.

Congrats to Stacey for competing in and finishing the Santa Anita 5k event last weekend with a good time! We will see if Angela and Deanna can do as good when they run the Carlsbad 5k this weekend!
